The humanoid robot industry's heat continues rising, with whole-machine form, motion control, and intelligent interaction making continuous progress. However, as robots accelerate toward real application environments like industrial manufacturing, operational stability under complex conditions, core component lifespan, motion precision, and manufacturing cost will all affect whether technological achievements can convert into real application value. For supply chain enterprises, this means competition is extending toward hardware performance and engineering capability. At the 2026 China International Industry Fair, Nidec Group appeared for the first time under the "One Nidec" integrated framework, with Nidec Drive Technology as the core, joining multiple group companies to collectively display full-matrix products for humanoid and industrial robots.
Nidec Group China Sales Company Chairman Masaki Maehara said directly in an exchange with China Gongkong Network that Nidec's participation is not just to display products but to deeply exchange with on-site professional customers, hear needs, and develop products better suited to the Chinese market. Morgan Stanley raised its 2026 China humanoid robot full-year shipment forecast to 50,000 units and its 2030 annual shipment forecast to 446,000 units. Smart Analytics Global data shows 2026 first-half global humanoid robot shipments of about 19,100 units, up 272% year-over-year, with Chinese manufacturers accounting for over 90% of global shipments. Maehara said China is developing rapidly in humanoid robots, with advantages in talent, data, power supply, and commercial applications. For component manufacturers, this means denser product testing opportunities and the need to respond faster to customer needs.
But beneath prosperity, structural contradictions are equally sharp. Maehara said humanoid robots' brains iterate far faster than their bodies. AI software advances rapidly, while hardware components still have shortcomings in durability, precision, and reliability; weak hardware foundations remain a key obstacle before scaled application. According to BIS Research statistics, in humanoid robot component BOM costs, actuators account for 31% and sensors 21%—core hardware links worth focused attention. Therefore, how to balance high output, precision, heat dissipation, and durability in limited space while controlling manufacturing cost has become an important task for component enterprises building competitiveness. Nidec's entry point is precisely integrating long-accumulated precision manufacturing technology and extending toward higher-integration joint drive solutions.
Nidec's humanoid robot布局 relies on technical synergy formed through over 50 years of precision manufacturing accumulation. Maehara introduced that Nidec started with small precision motors, with business covering motors, reducers, sensors, optical lenses, and machine tools. Its technical accumulation extends to production equipment and manufacturing processes. By independently developing production equipment and optimizing coil winding processes, Nidec can synchronously adjust product design and manufacturing, seeking better balance among performance, precision, and cost. In the core category of precision reducers, Nidec's advantage is particularly prominent. According to Japan's Fuji Keizai survey data, its precision control reducer global market share reached 27.9% in 2025, ranking first. For different transmission needs, Nidec布局 planetary, harmonic, and cycloidal reducers.
Motor products are segmented by joint space and output needs. For forearms and wrists, Nidec provides cored motors balancing miniaturization and high torque; for space-constrained parts like fingers and palms, it布局 slotless motors with outer diameters of about 8 to 16 mm and minimum weight of about 9 grams. At this Industry Fair, Nidec's key message to the Chinese market also lies in modularization and integrated assembly of core components. Taking RC Module as an example, the product integrates motor, gears, and driver into an integrated module with cycle life up to 600,000 times. Maehara said Nidec will focus on three areas—developing high-function, high-performance actuators; advancing intelligent actuator development through collecting and analyzing operational data for fault prediction; and promoting humanoid robot deployment in its own factories.
Maehara particularly emphasized the dual cost and quality advantages brought by in-house R&D and production. Taking motors as an example, Nidec excels at high-density, high-slot-fill coil winding, with related winding equipment also independently developed within the group. Compared with models relying partly on external procurement, this manufacturing capability helps better control product quality and cost. China market development speed is the topic Maehara discussed most. China market sales account for about 20% of Nidec Group's total revenue, while China R&D, production, and sales sites account for over one-third of the group total. Maehara said Nidec is using local Chinese R&D, production, and sales resources to more directly obtain customer feedback and incorporate needs into product development. He judges that if Nidec cannot succeed in the Chinese market in One Nidec form, it will struggle to gain ideal global market share.
Nidec's case is a different sample at the same supply chain position as the previously discussed Leisai Intelligence, Fa'ao Robotics, and Zhenyu Technology. Earlier we discussed Leisai Intelligence entering over 80% of humanoid robot complete machine manufacturers' supply systems, Fa'ao Robotics raising nearly 1 billion yuan in two rounds for industrial-grade humanoid force-controlled arms, and Zhenyu Technology reducing costs through process optimization, production line automation, and scale effects. These companies sit in different links—reducers, motors, structural parts, force-controlled arms—but their common point is that no matter how fast complete machine makers' brains iterate, hardware components' durability, precision, and reliability remain bottlenecks for scaled application. Nidec's Maehara statement that humanoid robots' brains iterate far faster than their bodies is the most direct summary of this bottleneck. Nidec's strategy is to use 50 years of precision manufacturing accumulation to perfect core components including reducers, motors, and sensors, then integrate them through the One Nidec framework to provide modular solutions to complete machine makers. Whether this path works depends on humanoid robot complete machine volume rhythm and whether Nidec's China localization can keep up with Chinese customers' speed.
